August 6, 2006 We know that the site is long overdue for an update and I am here to tell you to expect big things in the next few weeks. We can't divulge too much information at this point in time, but we can give a few hints. Think blogs and social networking. More features for our users and better ways to control your presence on the site. Our goal has always been to use popular culture as a platform for interaction and we have been successful in doing so, but we are about to take the user experience to a whole new level. The ability of existing online social networks to bring people together on the basis of their pop culture preferences exists, but has not been exploited. Sure, you can find another user who also likes the same band as you. But what about finding someone who likes the same bands and same movies? Or the same kinds of movies? It's a lot of work for you to do that now. Soon, it will be easy. Our site is the only one that has developed proven algorithms to locate others who share your preferences. Over the next few weeks, we'll be putting that math to use. There may be some growing pains here and there, but we expect to have everything up and running by the end of the month. Web 2.1, here we come...
