mytopfive.com Answers Your Questions How do I use this site? Anyone can use mytopfive.com. Anyone who visits the site has the ability to browse the lists that have been created in a category, view lists created by other users, read the forums, or compare lists. However, in order to post your own lists, it is necessary to register. Registration is easy. Simply go to the page and fill out all the required information. You'll need a valid e-mail address because after you sign up, a confirmation message is sent to your e-mail that provides instructions for activating your account. Once you've activated your account, just sign in on the main page and you'll get access to your personal control panel (which lets you add, remove, or edit your top fives). You'll also be given the ability to post on the forums. How do I change my password? What about my e-mail address? Once you log in, you can change your password and other account information using your personal control panel on the "Options" page. I signed up, but I didn't get the activation e-mail. What gives? Sometimes our activation e-mails never make it into your inbox. There are several possible explanations for this, but the most common one is spam filtering. If you're using spam filters, you will have to add the address mailman@mytopfive.com to your "safe list" or "friends list". If you're using AOL, you may want to look in your spam messages folder to check if the registration e-mail is in there. Other possible reasons for not receiving the e-mail include having a full mailbox or mistyping your e-mail address. If you still can't find the e-mail, click here to get your activation code re-sent. I forgot my password. What do I do? Click here to use our password recovery tool . Why are all the list items links? When you click on any of the items in a top five list, our software tries to provide you with products and information that relate to what you're looking for. If you see something on someone else's list that you realize is missing from your collection, we try to make it as easy as possible to purchase it at a low price. I don't want to put my own picture in my profile. How do I make sure that I upload an image that isn't copyrighted? There are many sources of images where you don't have to worry about infringing upon someone else's copyright. Wikimedia Commons is our current favorite and has lots of images you should be able to use. Creative Commons is also a good source. Of course, you can always create your own images using a digital camera, scanner, or image editing software. However, we do not condone the use of unauthorized copyrighted materials for profile images and will make regular checks to ensure that users do not violate this policy. Any other advice for using the site? Yes. Before you use or register for our web site, you should read and familiarize yourself with our privacy policy and terms of service. |
